About RTIBK

An independent, educational publication that helps readers understand investing, wealth management and capital markets with clarity and care.

RTIBK — Investing Brief & Knowledge — is an independent, educational publication about investing, wealth management, capital markets and market analysis. We write for people who want to understand how money and markets actually work: how asset classes behave, how professionals think about risk, how to read the numbers companies and economies publish, and how to make sense of the constant noise surrounding financial news.

We are a publisher, not a financial firm. We do not take deposits, open accounts, manage money or sell financial products. Our only product is explanation. This page describes who we are, what we cover, how we work, how we are funded and, just as importantly, what we are not.

Who we are

RTIBK is an online publication produced by a small editorial team with backgrounds in financial research, economics, data analysis and financial journalism. The people who write and edit our material share a simple conviction: most investing mistakes come not from a lack of intelligence but from a lack of context. When people understand why diversification matters, how compounding works over decades, or why a headline about a single day's market move rarely matters to a long-term plan, they tend to make calmer and better-informed decisions.

Our work is aimed at a broad audience. Some readers are new to investing; others want a clear, neutral refresher on a topic such as bond duration or earnings quality. We write plain language first, with technical depth for those who want it.

Our mission

Our mission is to make sound financial knowledge accessible, accurate and free of sales pressure. Financial information online is abundant, but much of it is designed to sell something — a trading platform, a newsletter subscription, a product with a commission attached, or a promise of quick returns. We want to offer the opposite: patient, evidence-based explanations that help readers ask better questions of any adviser, provider or product they encounter.

In practice, that mission shapes three commitments:

  • Clarity. We explain concepts without jargon where possible, and define terms carefully where jargon is unavoidable.
  • Balance. We present the trade-offs of any strategy or asset class, including the risks that marketing materials tend to leave out.
  • Durability. We favor evergreen principles over predictions. Markets change constantly; the fundamentals of risk, return, cost and time change far more slowly.

What we cover

RTIBK focuses on four broad areas. Each is designed to build on the others, so a reader can move from foundational ideas to more specialized topics at their own pace.

Wealth management

Goal setting, asset allocation, diversification, rebalancing, costs and the long-term habits that tend to matter most. Start with our wealth management guide.

Capital markets

How equity and debt markets function, how companies raise capital, and what investment banks do. See our investment banking explainer.

Market research

Reading indices, earnings reports, economic data and research notes with a critical eye. Our market research guide is a good starting point.

Tools and security

Educational tools such as our investment calculator and market charts, plus practical advice in the Investor Security Center.

Alongside these guides, our Insights section publishes longer articles on specific themes — for example, how asset allocation works, how interest rates influence markets and how to read an earnings report. We deliberately avoid short-term price calls, "hot tips" and coverage designed to encourage frequent trading.

Editorial independence and principles

Editorial independence is the foundation of everything we publish. Our editors decide what to cover and how to cover it. No company, product provider or advertiser can pay to appear in our articles, review or approve our content before publication, or influence our conclusions.

Every piece we publish is guided by the following principles:

  1. Accuracy first. Factual claims are checked against primary or well-established sources, such as official statistics, regulatory publications, company filings and widely accepted academic research. Where figures are historical averages or estimates, we say so and avoid false precision.
  2. Education, not recommendation. We explain how things work and what to consider. We do not tell individual readers what to buy, sell or hold, because we do not know their circumstances and are not in a position to advise them.
  3. Risk is always part of the story. Any discussion of potential returns is accompanied by a discussion of the risks, costs and uncertainties involved. Investments can fall as well as rise, and we say so plainly.
  4. No hype. We avoid sensational headlines, urgency and fear-based framing. If a topic cannot be explained calmly, it probably is not one we should be covering.
  5. Transparency about limits. Where evidence is mixed or experts disagree, we present the competing views rather than choosing a convenient answer.
  6. Separation of interests. Editors follow a conflicts of interest policy, including rules on personal holdings and a prohibition on trading ahead of publication. Details are set out in our Disclosures & Editorial Policy.

How we are funded

Producing careful financial education takes time, and we believe readers deserve to know how that work is paid for. RTIBK does not accept paid placements, sponsored rankings or payment in exchange for favorable coverage. No article on this site exists because someone paid for it to exist.

To cover our running costs, we may display advertising on some pages. Where advertising appears, it is clearly labelled as such and kept visually separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no say over what we write, and the presence of an advertisement is not an endorsement of the advertiser or its products. If we ever enter into affiliate or similar commercial arrangements, we will disclose them clearly on the relevant page and in our disclosures, and they will not affect our editorial judgment.

Our funding promise. We never charge readers for access to our guides, and we never ask readers to send money, invest through us or pay a fee to "unlock" returns. Anyone asking you to do so in our name is not us.

What we are not

Because our subject is finance, it is important to be completely clear about our status. Fraudsters sometimes imitate legitimate-sounding financial brands, and we want readers to be able to spot any impersonation immediately.

  • We are not a bank. We do not accept deposits, issue cards, make loans or hold money of any kind.
  • We are not a broker or trading platform. We do not execute trades, hold securities or provide access to any market.
  • We are not an investment adviser or wealth manager. We do not provide personalised advice, manage portfolios or make recommendations tailored to anyone's circumstances.
  • We do not open accounts. There is no RTIBK client account, client portal or login for customers, because we have no customers in the financial sense.
  • We do not hold any financial licence. RTIBK is not authorised or regulated by any financial regulator, because we do not carry out regulated financial activities.
  • We never ask for money or credentials. We will never contact you asking for a deposit, a transfer, a fee, your passwords, one-time codes, card details or access to your bank or brokerage accounts.

If you receive a call, message, email or social media contact that claims to be from RTIBK and asks for any of the above, treat it as a scam. Do not respond, do not click links and do not share personal information. Our Investor Security Center explains how to recognise and report investment fraud.

Our editorial team

RTIBK content is produced by the RTIBK editorial team. Rather than presenting individual personalities, we prefer that our work be judged on its accuracy and usefulness. The team is organised around a few core roles:

RoleResponsibilities
Managing editorSets editorial priorities, maintains standards and has final responsibility for what we publish.
Research writersResearch and draft guides and articles, working from primary sources and established literature.
Fact-checking and reviewVerify figures, definitions and claims, and check that risks and limitations are adequately explained.
Data and toolsBuild and maintain educational tools such as the calculator, and review how third-party data is presented.
Copy editingEnsure clarity, consistency and readability, and that content is accessible to non-specialists.

Most pieces pass through at least two sets of eyes before publication: the writer and an independent reviewer. Significant guides are reviewed periodically so that explanations remain accurate as rules, products and market structures evolve.

Corrections policy

We work hard to get things right, but mistakes can happen. When they do, we fix them promptly and openly. Our approach to corrections is straightforward:

  • Factual errors — such as an incorrect figure, definition or description — are corrected as soon as they are verified.
  • Material corrections, meaning changes that alter the substance or meaning of a piece, are noted on the page so readers can see what changed.
  • Minor edits, such as typos, formatting and small clarifications that do not change the meaning, may be made without a note.
  • Updates reflecting new information, such as changed rules or thresholds, are made during our periodic reviews.

If you believe something we have published is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading, please tell us. You can reach the editorial team at [email protected] or through our contact page. Please include the page address and a short description of the issue, along with a source if you have one. We read every report and respond where appropriate.

Our values

The following values guide how we choose topics, write explanations and relate to our readers.

Independence

Our conclusions are our own. No advertiser, company or product provider can buy coverage or influence what we say.

Integrity

We are honest about uncertainty, transparent about our funding and open about our mistakes.

Clarity

Good explanations respect the reader's time. We aim to make complex topics understandable without oversimplifying them.

Prudence

We emphasise risk, cost and time horizon, and we avoid content that encourages speculation or impulsive decisions.

Reader safety

We help readers protect themselves from fraud and will never ask for money, passwords or account access.

Respect

Every reader's situation is different. We provide knowledge and leave decisions where they belong: with the reader and their qualified advisers.

How to get the most from RTIBK

If you are new to investing, we suggest starting with our wealth management guide and the article on building a long-term wealth plan. From there, diversification beyond stocks and bonds and how to read market indices will help you interpret what you see in financial news.

Use our tools as learning aids rather than forecasts. The investment calculator illustrates how contributions, time and assumed returns interact, but real-world returns vary and are never guaranteed. Likewise, the charts on our market insights page are provided by a third party and may be delayed.

Treat what you learn here as a foundation for your own research and for conversations with qualified, regulated professionals.
